TIFTON — This June, Southwell is celebrating Men’s Health Month and encouraging community members to do the same.
Each June is recognized as National Men’s Health Month, an annual awareness period solely dedicated to education and activities on the health and wellness of men and boys. National Men’s Health Week, a special awareness period recognized by Congress, also is celebrated. Men’s Health Week concludes on Father’s Day, June 11-17 this year.
The purpose of Men’s Health Month is to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys. The month gives health care providers, public policymakers, the media, and individuals an opportunity to encourage men and boys to seek regular medical advice and early treatment for disease and injury.
“This Men’s Health Month is a great time to evaluate your health,” Dr. Cameron Nixon, the chief transformation officer and internal medicine physician with Southwell, said in a news release. “Take the time this June to make that doctor’s appointment you may have been dreading and talk to your doctor about all aspects of your health.”
