Swift Street closure announced for railroad crossing improvements
Swift Street closure takes effect at 8 a.m. today, and will remain in place until work is completed on Friday

ALBANY — Georgia and Florida Railroad will be closing Swift Street for part of this week to put in railroad crossing improvements.
The railroad will be making improvements to one of their crossings located just north of East Residence Avenue. Officials with the city of Albany said that, to ensure safety for the railroad work crews and expedite the implementation of the improvements, the entire roadway will be closed to traffic preventing all north-south travel on Swift Street in the affected area.
The closure takes effect at 8 a.m. today, and will remain in place until work is completed on Friday. During the closure time, motorists will need to plan their trip using alternate routes and expect increased travel times.
The impacted crossing is on Swift Street between East Tift Avenue and East Residence Avenue.
