Lee County just announced no property tax increase … and Dougherty loses another business, Knight’s Appliances, to Lee County’s Modern Gas, and the sales tax from Knight’s, which I would think would be a large amount.

All the city has to do is keep stalling. Another week and that entire airport hay crop will be neglected into one big weed field full of grass-eating insect larvae.

Having an appreciation for a school’s history is commendable. However, keeping a school’s name that has a race-related title is shallow-minded. It is time to stop using race-related titles.

Our moral compass in this country is broken. Trump is now the voice of fake Christians who pretend they have morals that are defined in the Bible.

It seems that every time there’s a thunderstorm, the traffic light in front of P&G goes out or flashes red. People just blow through the flashing red light at 60 mph or more, without even slowing down. You are supposed to come to a full stop at a flashing red. Those of you that don’t stop are going to kill someone one day.

Mr. Fletcher: Your attempt at humor notwithstanding, it is this male, locker room attitude that made development of the #MeToo movement necessary. It’s time women were given the respect they deserve.

Now, let’s see: A 16-year-old can’t buy a pistol or rifle, can’t buy drinking alcohol, can’t legally buy marijuana in Colorado or Maine, can’t buy tobacco products in some jurisdictions, all because they are too immature. Yet some insane politicians want them to get the vote?

We appreciate your thorough coverage, Mr. Fletcher, of the American Peanut Shellers’ 100th anniversary celebration. We feel our group deserved the spotlight, and you certainly delivered.

Carlton Fletcher has included only presidents and candidates, but the extramarital affairs are so common among Congress that they had a hush fund to settle sexual harassment cases. Also, Trump didn’t have affairs while in office, but others did while holding public office.

So the Darton-ASU merger was supposed to have 10,000 students?

T-SPLOST means 8 percent sales tax now. That’s OK. There are other counties not far away with better stores, better customer service, better and safer downtown shopping and restaurants. I love Thomas and Tift counties; you are my new day-shopping places. Except the Lee County Publix … you have my grocery business forever.

The Blue & Gold Gala Saturday was wonderful. What a fine event for our university.

How can anyone think it’s appropriate for a public official to kiss another woman on the neck or smell her hair as a simple show of affection? It is despicable that Joe Biden will make fun of the accusations made by several women of inappropriate touching.
