“I will tell you what has carried me to the position I have reached,” Hitler said. “Our political problems appeared complicated. The German people could make nothing of them. … I, on the other hand … reduced them to the simplest terms. The masses realized this and followed me.”
Prediction: The prohibition of cellphone use while driving will be equally ineffective and ill-advised as prohibition was back in the ’20s.
Bring Dave Matthews to the Civic Center. Guaranteed sell-out!
Thank you, President Trump. You and your team did an outstanding job making this first step toward peace with North Korea a reality.
Commissioner John Hayes does not deserve another term. He put citizens at risk with excessive speeding twice in one day, and his inappropriate actions have cost taxpayers thousands in legal payouts.
I know The Herald said this more than a year ago, but it’s past time for Tommie Postell to step down from his position on the Albany City Commission. His act has grown painful to watch.
There is no such thing as an Obamaphone. Lifeline is a federal program started by Reagan and expanded by Bush 43. Everyone who buys phone service pay fees for that program. It pays for telecommunication services in schools and libraries, too.
Freddie Powell Sims obviously drank the same Kool-Aid as Hank Huckaby. To say that consolidation of Darton and ASU saves higher education in SW Georgia is one of the most ludicrous, idiotic and ill-advised statements that I have ever heard from a politician. Even the Regents now realize (privately admitting) they made a huge, huge mistake that unfortunately is irreversible.
Our commissioners need to stop fighting each other and work together to do what’s right for the people of this community.
I see The Albany Herald has won a number of prestigious awards. Congratulations. Now if we could just figure out how you managed to do that.
Eugene is exactly right about Donald Trump embracing Russia and not Canada. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
Thank you, Mr. Fletcher, for pointing out the little concern our political so-called leaders have for the people of this country who are not wealthy or on the welfare track. The people who are being hurt are the ones who work and pay their way.
How coincidental that A&E featured a documentary on John Gotti and at the same time, Joel Wernick announced his retirement. Did they have anything in common?
Why can’t schools have two or three main entry points and install metal detectors at those locations instead of having to arm teachers?
I hope the meeting with North Korea does not turn out to be another one of Trump’s dog and pony shows.
The front-page picture of the city manager with the new fire chief speaks volumes.
Since America is such a horrible, racist place, Arthur Jackson should consider moving to a Utopia like Somalia or North Korea.
