TIFTON – An investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation led to the arrest Tuesday of a Tifton elementary school principal on felony theft by taking charges.

Tammy Dill Corbin was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Tift County Jail.

The GBI was asked by the Tifton Police Department to investigate misappropriation of funds at Charles Spencer Elementary School in late February this year.

An audit conducted by the Tift County School Board found that Corbin, 49, had used the card to purchase personal items and pay personal bills. Corbin charged more than $1,500 on the card between July 2017 and January 2018.
