Town hall meeting to cover Medicare fraud, errors, abuse

ALBANY — Ward I Albany City Commissioner Jon Howard will hold one of his regular town hall meetings on Saturday. The meeting is set to cover the importance of understanding Medicare fraud, errors and abuse.

Linda Nix, a certified SMP/SHIP counselor and GeorgiaCares volunteer coordinator at the SOWEGA Council on Aging, will speak on the topic at the meeting.

The GeorgiaCares program is committed to promoting consumer awareness, preventing crimes against the elderly and using community partnerships to prevent Medicare misuse. Each year, Medicare loses billions of dollars to errors, fraud and abuse.

The meeting will be held the East Albany Community Center located at 1721 E. Oglethorpe Blvd., beginning at 10 a.m.
