ALBANY, Ga. &#8212 Two men were killed in a drive-by shooting on Willard Avenue Sunday night, police officials say.

William Lamont Davis Jr., and Desmond Treon Williams were killed while standing near a vehicle outside of 514 Willard Ave. when the occupants of a vehicle drove by and opened fire.

Police say that Davis and Williams were standing next to a tan Ford Crown Victoria when a vehicle drove by and fired several shots into the vehicle. The person inside the vehicle, Nicolas Tremaine Wright, was not injured.

Davis and Williams are the first Albany homicides of the year.

The shooting prompted police to elevate their patrols in certain Albany neighborhoods in hopes of heading off any plans for retaliation.

Court records show that Davis negotiated a plea deal with the Dougherty District Attorney
