U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson endorsed by Georgia, U.S. Chambers of Commerce

ATLANTA — U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., has picked up endorsement from the Georgia and U.S. chambers of commerce in his re-election bid.
Chris Clark, president and CEO of the state chamber, said that Isakson has a proven track record of fighting to keep Georgia the top state in which to do business, pointing to his leadership in securing federal funding for the Port of Savannah expansion.
“Senator Isakson is one of the most respected and hard-working members of Congress,” he said. “As the only senator to chair two committees, it is easy to see why Johnny is the ‘go-to’ on the tough issues. He is a true servant leader focused on creating jobs and improving Georgia’s business climate.”
In endorsing Isakson, Rob Engstrom, national political director and senior vice president at the U.S. Chamber, said the national business organization is “proud to stand with our friends at the Georgia Chamber to highlight Senator Isakson’s tireless work for the people of Georgia. It is an honor to stand alongside Georgia job creators and talk about the issues that matter to them as well as Johnny’s record fighting to get government out of the way so free enterprise can lead.”
“As a businessman, I am proud to receive this endorsement,” Isakson said. “With more than 30 years of business experience, I understand the value of the private sector, and I know what it means to sign the front of a paycheck, not just the back. I have fought hard to promote job growth and strengthen Georgia’s economy. I am seeking re-election to the U.S. Senate so I can continue working for common sense solutions to get our economy back on track.”
Isakson, who is seeking a third six-year term in the Senate, is being challenged in the Nov. 8 election by two opponents, Democratic Party nominee Jim Barksdale and Libertarian Party nominee Allen Buckley.
