ALBANY — A candlelight vigil is planned for February 19 at the Veterans Park Amphitheatre in downtown Albany for storm victims who lost their lives in tornado that ravaged the community on Jan. 22.
The event begins at 6 pm and although a few candles will be available, attendees are encouraged to bring their own.
The vigil is to honor the five people who died and the one boy who remains missing in the wake of the devastating storm.
According to reports, James Mosley, 59, and his wife, Cathy Mosley, 59, of Paradise Village Mobile Home Park on the 600 block of Holly Drive, as well as Oscar Reyna, 39, also of Paradise Village, were found deceased immediately following the storm.
Another fatality victim, Paul Freeman, 82, was found by search and rescue crews in his home on Newcomb Road in the aftermath of the storm.
The fifth victim, Patricia Ann Gohman, 77, of the 400 block of Holly Drive, died in the hospital on Jan. 26 after succumbing to injuries she sustained during the tornado.
Detrez Green of Piney Woods Estate mobile home park, who was the subject of a massive five-day search and effort effort, is still missing and the case is under investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
