ALBANY — Police are investigating an early morning shooting in south Albany on Saturday.

Jeremy Singleton, 19, told officers of the Albany Police Department he was walking on the 200 block of Barton Avenue around 5 a.m. when he was shot in the back by someone in a green Chevrolet Malibu.

Singleton was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital by an unidentified motorist, officials say, who later told police she was on her way to the K&S food store on Newton Road when she saw Singleton on the sidewalk near the U-Save-It Pharmacy, also on Newton Road.
