MARCIA JOHNSON: Emergency medical team a blessing to patient, family

April 9, I was taken to Phoebe’s Chest Pain Center in Albany, was met with the most awesome emergency medical team. Obviously, I had a heart attack. I did not know until after the “emergency” was over what type of heart attack I had.

If I knew the names of each one of the team, I would list them. They are my heroes! One of the team was Dr. Michael St. Marie and were it not for his quick response, my life would have ended that morning. I was rushed to the cath lab where Dr. Steven Wolinsky placed a stint in one of the three main arteries of the heart. I’m not medically educated and don’t understand a lot but it was pretty clear after all the “emergency” was over, my emergency was very critical. I had never heard of a “widow maker” heart attack. I had no clue a 100 per cent blockage was inevitable death with this particular heart attack. Dr. Wolinsky was fast, efficient and very qualified in saving my life. My husband, Tony, and our two grown children, Miranda and Anthony (our paramedic), were told by my now-cardiologist Dr. Khaja Mohammed I was a miracle.

If you’re not familiar with this particular heart attack as I was not, there are several websites in which you can research this appropriately named heart attack.

Wilma Flowers, RN at Phoebe, along with all who are associated with the Chest Pain Center at Phoebe are my heroes. I cannot leave out the Phoebe Worth EMS team who came to my home, carried me by ambulance to the Chest Pain Center. They are Anya Goldinger and Jerry McDonald! Heroes, personified! I love you guys.

I want everyone to know I am blessed beyond blessed. I am so impressed with Phoebe’s Chest Pain Center Team, the doctors, the nurses, all staff. They are angels! They were and are truly my heroes, my angels, the blessing in my and my family’s lives!
