ALBANY — The Albany area Yard of the Month for May “showcases a storybook wedding,” officials with the Daffodil Garden Club say.

Kay Martin and her late husband, Russell, “always enjoyed working in their yard,” said Marideane Maxwell, chair of the club’s selection committee, “so when it came time for Laurel to get married, she wanted to do it in that very yard and remember her father.”

The enclosed back yard of the Martin residence at 1809 Valley Road “made a beautiful setting for the wedding,” Maxwell said.

“Many blooming plants and attention to detail made for happy memories,” she said.

Each month, the Daffodil Garden Club recognizes a home in the Albany area for its attractiveness. Club officials say they hope the program encouarges others to be catlysts their neighborhoods by adding “beauty that will inspire others to do the same.”

The club accepts nominations from the public for its monthly recognitions. To nominate a residence, call (229) 436-6888.

The club meets at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Federated Garden Center, 808 Fifth Ave. The club meets on the third Tuesday of of the month September through May.
