In the weeks of Nov. 14 and Nov. 21, a retired pastor by the name of Creede Hinshaw had an article about Sunday, the Sabbath and the 4th Commandment.

He mentioned Sunday at least 16 times in the two articles and called it the Sabbath at least six times and said it’s time to take the 4th Commandment seriously.

I agree we need to take the 4th Commandment very seriously. But there is no mention of Sunday or the first day of the week in the 4th Commandment, The 4th Commandment starts with the word “remember,” but it tells us to remember to keep the seventh day, or the day we know as Saturday, holy. We can’t make a day holy, so God asks us to keep the one He made holy. Genesis 2:2-3, Exodus 16:22-30, Exodus 20:8-11, Mark 1:21-22, Luke 23:50-56 and 24:1. The first day of the week is mentioned nine times in God’s word and not one time is it called a holy day or anything but the first day of the week.

The 4th Commandment starts with the word “remember,” so it seems like the retired pastor would remember the truthful. Some people might not study God’s word for themselves and think he is right.
