OneBlood urges donation ahead of tropical storm

ORLANDO, Fla. — There is an urgent call for additional blood donations before Tropical Storm Nicole arrives. While all blood types are needed ,there is an increased need for O Negative and O Positive blood.
“Tropical storms and hurricanes can disrupt blood collections,” Susan Forbes, OneBlood’s senior vice president of corporate communications and public relations, said in a news release. “The most critical time for blood donations is prior to any storm or hurricane in order to sustain the blood supply during and immediately after the event.”
OneBlood encourages all eligible donors to visit a donor center or Big Red Bus blood drive to ensure blood is available for patients in need. To find a donation location and to make an appointment, visit oneblood.org.
