ALBANY — A group of prospective physicians and mid-level providers are looking to practice at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, while a number of other mid-level providers are attempting to get their credentials approved, a recent report shows.

The Professional Affairs Committee at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital met on Monday to consider its latest round of medical staff applicants.

The credentials report considered on Monday went before the Credentials and Bylaws Committee on Oct. 27 and the Medical Executive Committee on Nov. 4. Four physicians, Drs. Robert Eden, Samantha McCaskill, Veera Pavuluri and Jonathan Shank, are the applicants looking to gain privileges.

Eden is a maternal and fetal medicine specialist filling in temporarily for Dr. Michael Edwards, McCaskill and Shank are in family medicine and Pavuluri is an internist, the report said.

Mid-level providers are being considered with the requirement of obtaining sponsorship from a physician. Brian Elliott is going be sponsored by Dr. Sanjay Munireddy in oncologic surgery and Michelle McLeod is working in the hospital’s critical care medicine department.

Meanwhile, there were 23 mid-level providers listed as going through the re-credentialing process, which is done every two years, the report said.

The report further noted revisions on privilege delineation forms, including one for obstetrics and gynecology now requiring online courses for continuing education approved by the OB/GYN department at Phoebe and a new delineation of privileges created for the Department of Anesthesia.

The medical staff at Phoebe primarily takes on the role of looking into a physician applicants’ qualifications, in turn making a recommendation to the Professional Affairs Committee before the hospital’s full board makes a final decision.

The full hospital board is set to meet again on Dec. 3. The Professional Affairs Committee will be meeting again on Dec. 15.
