APD responds to at least 38 incidents

ALBANY — Albany police responded to at least 37 incidents Thursday, according to available police reports. Police responded to incidents including:

–Theft by taking about $18,000 in jewelry from Prestige Jewelers kiosk in the Albany Mall. The sales clerk, Crystal Serranno, said she was distracted by two customers while the thief pried open a glass case and took 61 diamond rings. The thief was caught on the kiosk’s 24-hour video and Serrano said the owner of the kiosk will turn over a “good” picture of the thief to the police;

— Theft by taking on the 1600 block of Gillionville Road;

— Aggravated assault, a hit and run, on the 2100 block of West Waddell Avenue;

— Entering auto on the 4000 block of Gillionville Road;

— Terroristic threats on the 800 block of North Davis Street;

— Interference with an officer on the 1000 block of Jordan Street;

— Burglary on the 1200 block of Colquitt Avenue, the 1600 block of Smith Court;

— Domestic on the 300 block of West Tift Avenue;

— Assault (family violence) on the 300 block of Gaines Avenue;

— Domestic (unfounded) on the 2500 block of Hilltop Drive.

DOUGHERTY POLICE: Dougherty County police responded to at least 11 calls, according to available police reports.

Police responded to incidents including:

— Forgery, a stolen money order for $225 was cashed on the 600 block of South Slappey Boulevard;

— Traffic arrest at South Westover Boulevard and Gillionville Road resulted in a drug arrest. Five bags of marijuana were found in the glove compartment of a Ford Focus and four bars of marijuana were found on a juvenile. Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit took over the drug investigation.

DOUGHERTY EMS: Emergency medical services responded to 49 calls on Wednesday. There were 30 medical calls, 18 trauma calls and one other call. Medical calls included, two chest pains, four respiratory problems, nausea vomiting, three diabetic complaints, one mental problems, two miscellaneous pain calls, one choking, two stroke symptoms and 15 various medical. Trauma calls included 12 vehicle crash injuries, five falls and an eye injury. Other calls are typically standby for other units and patient transport.

ALBANY FIRE: Albany firefighters responded to six calls including:

— Malfunctioning alarm, assist Albany Police Department with a ladder, two accidental alarms, a fuel leak and a report of wires down.
