Police investigate west Albany shooting

ALBANY — Police are investigating a shooting in west Albany Thursday where one man was hospitalized for injuries.

Sakevius Travonte Lovett, 22 told Albany police investigators that around 10:30 p.m. he and another man were standing in the parking lot of Nottingham North Apartments, 2401 Nottingham Way when a black male wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans and white shoes approached and pointed a handgun at the pair.

Lovett stated that he ran when he saw the gun, but the suspect shot him once in the buttocks.

The victim was transported by personal vehicle to the north campus of Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital where he was treated and later released, hospital officials say. No arrests are reported by police.
