Police seek Sylvester bandit

SYLVESTER — Police are looking for a suspect in the late night robbery Wednesday at a Sylvester grocery store that took place as a clerk was taking out the trash.
Babulul Patel, 26, told officers that around 11 p.m. he was taking trash to a dumpster behind J&J Grocery Store on East Martin Luther King Jr. Drive when an unknown male came from around the building, put a small handgun to Patel’s face and demanded money.
The victim told police he handed over his wallet, which contained cash and $25 phone card, and the bandit left on foot.
According to Lt. Kenneth Washington with the Sylvester Police Department, there was no gunfire and no one was injured in the incident. The suspect is described as a 5-foot-6 black male who was wearing all black clothing with white shoes.
