Poulan mayor arrested for drug possession

Poulan Mayor Hugh Dustin Grubbs has been arrested on drug charges after being stopped for a simple vehicle violation, according to Maj. Bill Berry, commander of the Albany Dougherty Drug Unit.

About 12:30 p.m. Thursday, as the 41-year-old Grubbs traveled east in white Chevrolet Silverado on U.S. Highway 82 near the Worth County line, a uniformed interdiction unit noticed a window-tinting violation, as well as a tag violation for the trailer on Grubbs’ truck, Berry said.

During the stop, permission to search the vehicle was requested by officers and granted by Grubbs, he said. Berry said he saw nothing overt in a video of the incident that would have prompted officers to be suspicious.
