Former President Jimmy Carter is scheduled to teach Sunday School this Sunday at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains. The Sunday School lesson will begin at 10 a.m. in the church sanctuary. The doors open at 8:30 a.m. and an orientation for visitors begins at 9 a.m.

EVENTS

The Mallary Baptist Association Spring Mission Celebration, sponsored by Women’s Missionary Union and Women’s Enrichment Ministries, will be 7 p.m. on Monday. This event will be held at First Baptist Church Albany, 145 Oakland Parkway off of U.S. Highway 82 West. Guest speaker will be Dr. David Smith speaking on “Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): Not Just a Soldier’s Issue!” Individuals may experience PTSD as a result of accidents, neglect or abuse, rape and sudden death of a loved one. Attendees are asked to bring items (baby wipes, diapers, etc.) to donate to the Alpha & Worth County Pregnancy Centers. For more information call First Baptist Albany at (229) 883-8000.

St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church will host the Albany-Dougherty branch of the National Association for the Advance of Colored People annual black history celebration at 11 a.m. Saturday. The speaker will be the Rev. Ezekiel Holley, Terrell County NAACP president. Music will be provided by Christopher Thomas of Columbus and Southwest Georgia Choir. The church is located at 1907 S. Jackson St.
