Jimmy Carter not teaching in Plains this weekend

Former President Jimmy Carter is not scheduled to teach Sunday School this Sunday at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains. Carter’s next scheduled appearance at the church is Nov. 22. When Carter teaches Sunday School in Plains, the lesson begins at 10 a.m., but the sanctuary doors open at 8:30 a.m. An orientation session for visitors begins at 9 a.m.

EVENTS

Baconton United Methodist Church will host a gospel sing at 7 p.m. today featuring Glory Bound of Tallahassee, Fla. A love offering will be taken and refreshments will be served. The program is open to the public.

Heritage Full Gospel Church will feature a viewing of “God’s Not Dead” at 7 p.m. Saturday. Hotdogs and drinks will be served. Participants are asked to bring a blanket and/or chair. The church is located at 101 Hickory Grove Road in Lee County.

Greater Pines Chapel Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its 27th anniversary with services set at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. The following churches and ministers will be in charge of services including the Rev. Verlon Robinson of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church on Monday, the Rev. Dr. John Severson of Union Missionary Baptist Church on Tuesday and the Rev. Jimmy Ewings of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church on Wednesday.
