ALBANY – The search for an Albany city employee who fell into the Flint River while on the job Monday entered a second day on Tuesday, with state agencies joining in to assist local emergency workers.

On Tuesday the Georgia State Patrol brought in a helicopter to assist with the search, and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources also has been searching the river since Monday.

City and county personnel were searching a section of the river stretching south about 2.5 miles from the Veterans Park Amphitheater, Albany Public Information Officer Krista Monk said.

“The family has been notified that we’re searching for the employee,” she said. “They (the employee) did go missing while getting water samples. As far as I’ve been told, there were two out there and one went missing.”
