ALBANY — Sherwood Christian girls soccer standout Jordyn Paramore signed a letter-of-intent Thursday to continue her career at Truett-McConnell College, a Christian liberal arts college in Cleveland, Ga.
Paramore, who plays center midfield for the Lady Eagles, currently holds the school record with 114 goals. She chose Truett-McConnell over Point University.
“My sophomore year, coach Mac (TMC head coach David McDowell) came and watched me play in a tournament, and he was interested in me,” Paramore said. “Then my junior year, I went with coach Mac to Uganda, Africa on a mission trip and we got really close, so I felt that he would be a good coach for me, that is passion was for soccer, but ultimately, it was for the Lord, so I felt like it was a good place for me.”
Coming into the 2015 season, Sherwood Christian girls soccer coach Jeremy Davidson was in need of someone to take the leadership role. He said Paramore fills that role.
“She’s been invaluable,” Davidson said. “She’s a fifth-year player. She’s been a varsity starter for five years now. She’s one of our predominate offensive players. She’s been our captain and a leader in every way on the team. She’s been the leader in the locker room, the leader in the classroom. She’s has provided leadership at a time when we desperately needed it.”
McDowell said Paramore will fill a center midfield role.
“She’s a great passer of the ball, tackles well,” McDowell said. “She has very good vision. With the way that we play, which is a possession-oriented game, she fits that well. Her speed of play is very good. She already knows what she’s going to do with the ball before she gets it.”
