ALBANY — Shots were fired in an aggravated assault early Sunday morning on a home that has now been hit twice in the last six months, reports from the Albany Police Department show.
Reports show that officers responded to 200 N. Ingleside Drive at around 3:40 a.m. on Sunday regarding damaged property. Officers made contact with one of the victims, a 55-year-old man, who said he was awakened to the sound of glass breaking. When he got up to see what had happened, he discovered his residence had been hit by gunfire, the report said.
The southwest bedroom was the area hit by gunfire, the report said. Two spent ammunition shells were found on the roadway south of the residence — which was the 1900 block of Melrose Drive. A spent round was located in the south wall on the outside of the residence. The south wall was hit by three rounds, and a window located on the south wall was also hit by a round.
Two vases in the bedroom were damaged by gunshots, the report said.
There were two women in their 60s also asleep in the residence at the time of the shooting. None of the occupants were harmed as a result of the incident. The male victim said it had been the second time his residence has been shot at, with the first incident taking place in October 2014 when the living room was shot into, the report said.
The victim said he has been living there since 2006 and does not know why anyone might target the residence, the report said. The case remains under investigation.
