ALBANY — Officials from the Albany Police Department say a stabbing incident was reported early Thursday on Cedar Avenue.
Initial information from Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the Albany Police Department, said the incident took place at 1013 Cedar Ave. around 8:35 a.m. on Thursday.
Banks said the victim, a 23-year old man identified as Michael Stubbs, 23, was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for treatment of a stab wound. He and the suspect, Joseph Nelson Thompson, got into a physical altercation — during which Stubbs was stabbed, she said.
A spokeswoman at Phoebe on Thursday afternoon said he was still in the emergency center being treated, and that an update on his condition would not be available.
Thompson was transported to the Dougherty County Jail.
