Sylvester church observes 132nd anniversary

SYLVESTER — First African Baptist Church in Sylvester is celebrating its 132nd year of service this week with a series of services Thursday through Sunday.
The first service is at 7 p.m. Thursday featuring Pastor E. J. Heath of Mount Hebron Baptist Church in Albany. Friday’s program at 7 p.m. features the Rev. Brian Jones and the Mount Zion Baptist Church Praise Team and the Rev. Forester Evans Jr. and First A.B. Mass Choir.
Saturday’s program opens at 6 p.m. and will feature gospel recording artist Carolyn D. Drake, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Mass Choir of Sylvester, Greater Saint John Full Gospel Ensemble of Poulan, First African Baptist Church Mass Choir and Gethsemane Worship Center Liturgical Dance Ministry of Albany.
The celebration ends with a worship service at 11:15 a.m. Sunday. The church is located at 606 W. Pope St. in Sylvester.
