SYLVESTER — Police officials in Sylvester have confirmed the arrest of three people Thursday in two separate actions. Sgt. Kenneth Washington with the Sylvester Police Department said most of the charges were drug related.
At 1 a.m. Thursday, Timothy Paul Polk, 27, of Sylvester was apprehended at EZ Corner Central on the 500 block of Franklin Street, Washington said. According to Washington, Polk was sought by Henry County authorities on an active warrant for failure to appear. In Sylvester, Polk was charged for use of communications to sell drugs and for the sale and possession of cocaine. Polk is currently being held at the Turner County jail pending warrants and pickup by Henry County authorities, officials say.
Later on Thursday, while making a traffic stop at Franklin and Isabella Streets, an officer of the SPD noticed a black vehicle with an obscured tag, Washington said. Rickey Eric Goodwin, 40, of Tifton was arrested on an active warrant out of Willacoochee.
Goodwin and his passenger, 40-year-old Wendi Sheree Weldon of Albany, were arrested and charged with possession of drug-related objects, possession of methamphetamine, possession of schedule II narcotics, drugs to be kept in original container and drug possession of schedule IV narcotics.
In addition, Washington said that Goodwin was charged with tag violation and driving on a suspended license. Both Goodwin and Weldon were transported to the Worth County jail, officials said.
