Sylvester police investigating Christmas Day sexual assault of 70-year-old woman

SYLVESTER — Police officials in Sylvester are seeking the public’s help in investigating a sexual assault that took place early Christmas Day.

On Thursday, from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m., an unknown man reportedly entered a residence on Carter Road in Sylvester and sexually assaulted a 70-year-old woman, Sylvester police said, adding the victim was unfamiliar with the offender. She was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital where she was treated and released, police officials said Monday.

Lt. Ronnie Graddy, investigation division commander with the Sylvester Police Department, said officials were working to gather a suspect description Monday afternoon.
