SYLVESTER — Brandon Scott Vinavong was arrested Thursday morning in Sylvester in connection with the August, 2013, murder of Bobby Anglon, investigators say.

Officials of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation say Anglon, 66, was killed by multiple gunshot wounds to his torso at his residence at 8894 Morey Hill Road in Mitchell County.

The GBI said in a statement that Vinavong is charged with murder, armed robbery, burglary and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

According to the statement, the arrest of Vinavong, 18, was executed at 450 Youngblood Road in Sylvester by deputies of the Worth County Sheriff’s Office after warrants were obtained by agents of the GBI.

After his arrest, the suspect was transported to the Worth County jail, where he will await a bond hearing, officials say.

Anglon’s death was investigated by the Thomasville office of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office and the Worth County Sheriff’s Office.

The homicide investigation is still ongoing, officials say, and additional arrests are expected.
