ALBANY — Police officials have confirmed the early morning death of 18-year-old Shakilla Cleveland in a one-car accident in East Albany Saturday
Responding officers of the Albany Police Department traffic unit found the 2014 Hyundai Sonata around 3:05 a.m., officials say, on a grassy area near the 1500 block of East Oglethorpe Boulevard. Officials say it’s uncertain why the vehicle left the roadway.
Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler pronounced Cleveland dead at the scene at 3:28 a.m., according to Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the APD.
The Hyundai was driven by Keela Washington, 24, police said. They identified another passenger in the car as Santania Williams, 17. Information on their condition was not available.
