DAWSON — The Terrell County Board of Education will hold a special called meeting Tuesday to consider hiring outside financial consulting services as the school district continues work on its financial operations.
The meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. Tuesday in Room 107 of the Terrell County Board of Education office at 761 First Ave. SE in Dawson.
According to the meeting notice, the board will consider approval of a proposal from Mauldin & Jenkins LLC for CFO consulting services. The official agenda lists the consulting services as the board’s only substantive item of business beyond approving the agenda.
The special meeting comes as the district works through a transition in its finance department following the recent departure of Chief Financial Officer Tony Lowe.
Superintendent Shereca Harvey previously told The Dawson News that the district planned to use Mauldin & Jenkins to provide financial support following Lowe’s departure. Lowe left the district after roughly six months to take a position with Sumter County Schools.
Harvey has said the district has been working to strengthen its financial operations, including addressing outdated practices and tightening internal controls.
The board’s vote Tuesday would formally consider the firm’s CFO consulting services proposal.
The meeting is open to the public.
