Flint RiverQuarium cancels Flint Float
ALBANY — The 3rd annual Flint Float scheduled for Sunday has been canceled.
The afternoon event was called off “due to high water levels,” Wendy Bellacomo of Flint RiverQuarium stated in a news release, explaining that “safety reasons” spurred the cancellation.
The event had been scheduled to include a trek down the Flint River via canoe or kayak, a barbecue meal, musical entertainment and admission to the RiverQuarium.
Daffodil Club selects Yard of Month
ALBANY — The home of Ed and Leslie Hudson is the Albany Daffodil Garden Club’s October Yard of the Month.
The yard is located at 3709 Trumpington Lane.
“It is our hope that the public will ride by these outstanding homes each month and get some ideas that you can use at your home,” Club President Marideane Maxwell stated via e-mail.
Think Pink for Life conference coming up
ALBANY — Think Pink for Life Women’s Health Conference is scheduled for Saturday.
The event will be held 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at HealthWorks, located at 311 Third Ave.
The event includes free health screenings, food, information booths and pampering stations.
Cole Taylor to hold CD-release party
SASSER — A CD release party for Cole Taylor is set for this weekend.
The event kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday at Sasser Flea Market and Antique Mall, with gates opening at 6 p.m.
Tickets are $10 each.
The evening will include entertainment by BJ Taylor, Speedcoach and Running Down Romance.

Monroe High reunion meeting scheduled
ALBANY — The Monroe High School Class of 1966 is planning its 45-year reunion.
The group will meet for a planning meeting 9 a.m. Saturday at Golden Coral restaurant.
“If you would like to work on a committee, please come prepared to share your ideas,” a reunion committee news release states.
Library Foundation holds Antique Show
TIFTON — The Tifton-Tift County Public Library Foundation will host an Antique Show and Sale this weekend.
The event is scheduled for 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 12:30 p.m.-5 p.m Sunday at the University of Georgia-Tifton Campus Conference Center, located at 15 RDC Road in Tifton.
Admission is $5.
The event will include a lecture with a representative from the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, N.C., 11 a.m.-noon Saturday and a lecture by a representative of Longwood Gardens in Philadelphia.
Admission to lectures is $25 per lecture, $35 for lunch and a lecture or $60 for lunch and both lectures.
