Thomas C. Settles III to give Freedom Breakfast keynote

Thomas C. Settles III, senior pastor of Calvary Bible Church, chaplain for the University of Georgia football team and campus director for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes will deliver the keynote address at the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Breakfast. The event will be held at 8 a.m. on Jan. 17, 2025, in the Grand Hall of UGA’s Tate Student Center.

Raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Settles committed himself to full-time Christian ministry during his sophomore year at Morehouse College. After graduating, he enrolled in the Beeson Divinity School at Samford University, where he received his Master of Divinity.

Settles is also the author of “Better Together: Fifteen Encouraging Messages from an Unforgettable Season.” The book comprises 15 messages that emphasize the importance of unity and teamwork, drawing inspiration from the University of Georgia’s remarkable 2021 football season.

The Freedom Breakfast honors the legacy of the late civil rights leader and recognizes local community members dedicated to contributing to race relations, justice and human rights.

Tickets are $25 for individuals or $250 for a table of eight and are available for purchase online. Tickets will not be sold the day of the event, and initial ticket sales are limited to one table.
