ALBANY — At least three armed robberies or attempted robberies occurred in Albany early Tuesday, police officials say, with no arrests or serious injuries reported.

According to police, the first attack came around 12:15 a.m. when Hunter Bryon Foster, 18, was walking to a party at L’ Jua’s Restaurant, located at 704 Radium Springs Road. Foster told police the was walking through the parking lot of Quick Way Foods on Radium Springs Road when he was stopped by a black male wearing a dark-colored jacket, camouflage cargo shorts, brightly-colored shoes and a dark baseball cap.

Foster stated that when he turned around, the suspect pointed a gun at him and told him to lie on the ground. According to police, when Foster complied, the gunman demanded he empty all his pockets and also told Foster he was “going to die tonight.”

Foster reported that the suspect escaped with several items, including the victim’s wallet, belt, phone, hair pick, two gold chains, a watch and some cookies.

In an unrelated assault and attempted robbery, William Chunn, also 18, told Albany police he was walking on the 600 block of Sands Drive, on his way to an Albany State University homecoming party, when around 2 a.m. he was attacked by an unknown suspect who had been walking in front of him.

Chunn said he attempted to escape when the suspect pulled a handgun on him. However, the attacker caught up with him and struck him on the head with the pistol. Chunn told police that when he refused to surrender his cellphone and other property, the attacker fled.

Police say the gunman may have been walking from Wild Pines Apartments.

In a third and separate case, David Chapman told officers of the APD he was walking in the 500 block of South McKinley Street when around 2 a.m. he was approached by a black male with a bandana covering his face who aimed a pistol at him and demanded his Nike Jordan shoes and his cellphone. After Chapman surrendered the items the gunman fled east on foot, the victim said.

According to Chapman, the suspect was around 5 feet 9 inches in height, 150 to 180 pounds in weight, and with a “low fade” haircut.

Police officials say there no arrests or suspects in the cases, though all remain under investigation. Anyone with information on the attacks is asked to contact the Albany Police Department at (229) 431-2100 or Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS) (8477).
