ALBANY — After six years at the helm of one of the community’s largest employers, Tim Dill is out as the head man at Albany’s MillerCoors brewery.

Dill, who most recently served as vice president and plant manager of the Albany facility, confirmed via telephone Thursday afternoon that he and the company had mutually agreed to part ways.

“We came to a decision,” Dill said. “We’ve been talking about this for a little while.”

According to MillerCoors spokesman Martin Maloney, Dill’s departure was effective Tuesday and the company has named Shawn Snedden as interim plant vice president.

Dill, who moved to Albany when he joined MillerCoors, said he had no idea what his next step will be and that he has no immediate intention of leaving Albany, a place he’s grown to love.

“I have loved being here,” Dill said. “I’ve always tried to be an ambassador for the city and I’ll continue to do the same.”

Dill also had positive things to say about MillerCoors, noting the brewery was in “really good shape.”

“They’ve got good leadership and I’m not the least bit worried about them,” Dill said. “It’s a great organization. I’m leaving a wonderful company.”

Dill also shared that his leaving the company did not in any way signify any problems with the company, the brewery or its relationship with Albany and Dougherty County.

“This brewery here is a crucial brewery for MillerCoors,” Dill said. “It’s a brewery that the company counts on and relies on. It’s a really important brewery.”

While his immediate future is still unknown, if his past is any indication, there’s a good chance Dill’s next job might be in the food industry where he has spent the bulk of his career. Prior to joining MillerCoors Dill had spent time with Pillsbury, and later General Mills after that company purchased Pillsbury, Nabisco, Heinz, and Mrs. Crockett’s Kitchen.

“Always food,” said Dill. “I grew up in an apartment above a restaurant.”
