ALBANY — Weekend incidents involving knives are being investigated by the Albany Police Department, at least one of which resulted in a hospitalization.
One took place just before 2 a.m. on Sunday. Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the APD, said Ivory Mincey, 32, stated she was asleep on the front seat passenger side of a vehicle on the 900 block of West Residence Avenue when an unknown person attacked her, stabbing her in her left leg and left side.
Mincey, who police say in the report was intoxicated, could not provide any further information. A spokeswoman at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital said Monday that Mincey had been treated and discharged.
Another incident was reported Monday just after Sunday midnight at 1200 Kingstown Court, the site of The Gardens Too apartment complex. In that case, a woman had reported that a man kicked in her front door. She stabbed him, and the intruder fled the scene, Banks said.
Avery Sinclair, 35, is facing simple battery and criminal trespass charges in connection to the incident. He was the ex-boyfriend of the victim, a 44-year-old woman, who was uninjured in the incident. The woman is facing no charges, Banks said.
A third incident involving a knife was one in which a woman was held at knife point by her ex-boyfriend, who was threatening to kill her, reports said.
Officers responded to 902 17th Ave. around 1:50 a.m. on Saturday in reference to a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, the victim, a 27-year-old woman, stated that her ex-boyfriend forced his way into her home and held her at knife point. She was eventually able to get away and call the police from across the street, Banks said.
The case remains active and has been transferred to the investigations division, Banks said.
