Two arrested for robbery at Albany hotel

ALBANY — Albany Police investigators have arrested two suspects in connection with an armed robbery last Friday at the Econo Lodge Inn and Suites located at 1806 E. Oglethorpe Boulevard.
William Donnie McCulligh, 34, and Takoya LeShay Robinson, 28, were arrested shortly after 5 p.m. on Wednesday after officers spotted them on the 2300 block of Whispering Pines Road, police officials say.
According to police, the three victims reported that around 7 p.m. a tall white man wearing a white tank top and black shorts, together with a short black woman in black pants and a camouflage top forced them inside room 226 at gunpoint. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported, police officials say.
McCulligh is charged with armed robbery – firearm, and possession of a gun or knife in commission of a felony, Dougherty County jail officials say, while Robinson is charged with two counts of armed robbery – firearm. Jail records say Robinson is also charged with the previous offense of failure to appear for a fingerprintable felony.
On Thursday, the suspects remained in jail without bond, jail officials say.
