ALBANY — Albany Police Department spokesperson Phyllis Banks confirmed Monday afternoon that two Shoe Show employees were robbed Saturday evening.

Authorities said two female employees told officers they were walking out of the store on the 1600 block East Oglethorpe Boulevard around 9:30 p.m. Saturday when they were approached by a unidentified man.

Banks said the the employees had just closed the shoe store and were holding the store’s deposit bag, which contained a undetermined amount of money, when the bandit demanded money from them.

“The employee carrying the bag threw it on the ground,” APD officials stated. “At the point, the suspect picked the bag up and then fled the scene.”

Police said they had made no arrests and were searching for the suspect. According to descriptions from the employees, the robber was a black man about 18 years old, between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-8 in height and weighing approximately 160 pounds. The suspect was described as wearing a black and white jacket and blue jeans.

Investigators are asking for anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS.
