WALT SPECHT: System perpetuates single parenting
WALT SPECHT
In my travels toward Vermont twice a year I stumble across pearls of wisdom.
In the Roanoke Times (Roanoke, Va.) Opinion section, I found one Maurice Fisher Sr. He had done a satirical opinion on our welfare parents. I can’t exactly quote him, because I go on a failing memory. If you want the real deal, it was published April 7 as a followup and originally on jan. 27.
Anyway, he addresses the fathers of these children, some claiming to have fathered 15-20 children from different women. He blames it on children reared in broken, dysfunctional homes. Males who think it makes them men when they father children and women who are desperate for love.
He blames the American societal response to this growing problem. Our society has made it profitable to have fatherless children. We have created a social service trade industry that benefits from higher numbers of fatherless children. Society has established a bureaucracy funded by taxpayers that has, as its real goal, the perpetuation of their own employment.
The one thing close to a quote I remember is: “There are many rights in the U.S. Constitution, but none allows for the right of citizens to irresponsibility burden others in society.”
Think about it, and really think about it when it comes time to vote.
