ALBANY — The latest figures available show that “War Room” had grossed just over $64 million, about $30 million more than its most recent Sherwood Pictures predecessor.

Figures from Box Office Mojo, last updated Wednesday afternoon with numbers as of Tuesday, showed a gross of $64.1 million for the first film to be released through Kendrick Brothers Productions. The film, which was produced with a $3 million budget, had been in theaters for 46 days on Tuesday.

During its opening weekend, the film made $11.35 million — 17.7 percent of its total gross — while in 1,135 theaters. This made for an average of $10,000 per theater for opening weekend, during which time it achieved the No. 2 ranking for the week. It eventually expanded to a reach of 1,945 theaters, according to Box Office Mojo.

In its second weekend of release, “War Room” claimed the No. 1 box office spot. As of Tuesday, it was ranked No. 10. Over its most recent weekend in release, it made $1.85 million in 1,395 theaters, figures from Box Office Mojo show.

The film, meant to highlight the importance of prayer, was the fifth for brothers Alex Kendrick, “War Room” co-writer and director, and Stephen Kendrick, the film’s co-writer and producer. Four prior films — “Flywheel” (2003), “Facing the Giants” (2006), “Fireproof” (2008) and “Courageous” (2011) — were products of Sherwood Pictures while they were pastors at Sherwood Baptist Church.

“Courageous,” which had a production budget of $2 million, gained the No. 4 spot during its opening weekend before grossing $34.52 million.

In a September interview with The Albany Herald, Alex Kendrick said profits will not been seen from “War Room” until next year, after the theatrical and DVD releases have played out. A portion of the profits are expected to go to the National Christian Foundation.

The movie is still set to release in at least two more countries — Argentina on Oct. 22 and South Africa on Nov. 6. Aside from the United States, it also has shown in Australia, New Zealand, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Dominican Republic, Canada and Paraguay. It was scheduled to start showings in Colombia and Chile today, information available from Kendrick Brothers says.

Information on the film, including showtimes, can be found at warroomthemovie.com. Showings are set at the Carmike Wynnsong 16 on Nottingham Road in Albany for 12:25 p.m., 4 p.m., 6:50 p.m. and 9:35 p.m. today.
