WARREN D. GRANT: Who caused the first global warming?

Is it getting hotter or not? Not trying to get information from a source that favors my thinking, I went to Google and put in, “how many ice ages have there been.” I think this is a relatively neutral question.

The answer I got is “five,” with the earliest being about 2 billion years ago and the most recent “3 million years ago.” It goes on to say, “and continues today, yes we live in an ice age.” There are many underlying causes that create an ice age. One very important thing is the “ever moving of continents”(Utah Geological Survey). Continuing, “Currently, we are in a warm interglacial that began about 11,000 years ago.”

Geoffrey Pohanka, (Washington area NADA airector) said, “Did you know that if this country eliminates 100% of its CO2 emissions China will replace it within in 2 years due to their high growth rate?”

What exactly is the point of all of this? Pete Kuntz wrote in rebuttal to T. Gamble’s article that there was a lot “of climate denier myths, distortions and misinformation, and misconceptions in his column.” My Point is simple: You can find any information on the Internet that you want and it will support any view point you want. You just have to decide what you want to believe.

As for global warming, is it real or not? Depends on who you ask, or the research you do. Is it caused by humans? Again, who are you asking? If there were five ice ages and they have passed and the first one was 2 billion years ago and there were no humans here, then what caused the warming?

Personally, I think we all should be worrying about the gnats, because we can do just about as much to eliminate them as we can global warming and they bother me more than the ice melting.
