Widespread Panic to headline Wanee Music festival

LIVE OAK, Fla. — With the host Allman Brothers Band set to call it a career at the end of the year, officials with the Wanee Music Festival were anxious to find a suitable headliner to replace the venerable Southern rock pioneers atop the annual festival’s lineup.
Problem solved.
Wanee officials and Live Nation Entertainment announced Wednesday that Widespread Panic would serve as Wanee ‘15 headliners both April 17 and 18, the final two days of the three-day festival. Panic will not stand alone as the lone drawing card for the festival at the Spirit of Suwanee Music Park near here, however.
Other top acts scheduled to appear at Wanee include Allman Brothers co-founder and long-time leader Gregg Allman, former Allmans guitarist Warren Haynes’ Gov’t Mule, R&B legends Earth, Wind & Fire and classic rockers Cheap Trick.
Others on the Wanee bill include Jaimoe’s Jassz Band, (former Allman Brothers drummer) Butch Trucks & Friends, Robert Randolph, John Medeski, Luther Dickinson, Hot Tuna Electric, J.J. Grey & Mofro, (former Allman Brothers bassist) Oteil (Burbridge) & Friends, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstafunk, Rich Robinson (formerly of the Black Crowes) and the Yonder Mountain String Band.
For a limited time, fans who didn’t get early-bird tickets for Wanee can get three-day general admission passes for $195 starting today. That price will increase at a later date. Tickets are good for all three days of the festival (April 16-18) and include primitive camping and admittance to the Wanee Wednesday Happy Hour April 15. Limited VIP passes — which include festival admission, access to special viewing areas at the Peach and Mushroom stages, primitive camping, a VIP Wanee T-shirt, commemorative laminate, private restrooms, commemorative poster, catered lunches and dinners on Friday and Saturday, complimentary snacks and soft drinks, and access to a VIP-only pre-party — also go on sale today.
