I wish to highly commend the Poulan Police Department and the Poulan Maintenance Department, who were out constantly during the storm keeping the roads clear, and the Georgia Power line crews that had power restored in Poulan quickly after the storm had passed. You folks make me proud to live in Poulan.

Thank you, Chairman Chris Cohilas, for great leadership throughout the storm. God bless you.

What a beautiful tribute Barry Levine did for his dog and best friend last Sunday. I am sorry for your loss and grateful for your neighbors, Jamie and her husband.

I enjoy reading Carlton Fletcher’s articles and columns. I find them well-written and highly interesting. Mr. Fletcher is a real asset to The Albany Herald.

Special congratulations to the Albany Street Department for the yeoman work it did before, during and after Hurricane Irma’s invasion. The department’s efforts, especially in getting electricity restored to thousands of people who were without it, were especially appreciated.

Bob Kornegay is a Southwest Georgia treasure. His column is a must-read for me, and I don’t even hunt or fish.

I just want to say that was a very interesting article Mary Braswell had the in the paper about Milledgeville. I guess I missed the first half. Things I would have never known about it. I really enjoyed it.

Thanks to Kmart for staying open late and providing great service and needed supplies the day before Irma and opening up early the day after. They had everything I needed and great customer service.

Thank you to all the Georgia Power workers and the EMC workers who were working so hard and are still working and risking their lives to get our power back on.

Good bless all the victims of the hurricanes in Texas and in Florida.

I just want to thank you for the surprise of having the three days’ papers Wednesday. It was a nice surprise that all three papers were in the delivery.
