On Feb. 12, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, along with the Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission, Locate South Georgia and Georgia Allies, completed the 28th annual Georgia Quail Hunt. Since the Hunt’s inception in 1988, the Georgia Quail Hunt (formerly named the Fall Feather Hunt) has hosted hundreds of decision makers from companies around the world in Albany and Southwest Georgia for three days of Southern hospitality and quail hunting on some of the finest hunting plantations and preserves in the world.

This year, we hosted site location consultants as well as industry leaders considering moving to or expanding their companies in our state. The 2016 Hunt brought 28 guests — one of the largest groups to date — to Albany, where they heard from Governor Nathan Deal, Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle and many other Georgia business leaders about why Georgia is the No. 1 state in the nation in which to do business.

It continues to give me great pride every year to show off such a beautiful, exceptional part of Georgia. Seeing this through the eyes of a guest reinforces for me just how much we have to offer and how important this event continues to be for economic development in our state.

Since 1994, guests of the Georgia Quail Hunt have invested more than $2.5 billion and created more than 8,500 jobs as a result of corporate relocations or expansions. The guests attend the Hunt knowing they will experience world-class quail hunting, but I believe the true lasting impression comes from the people they meet and relationships formed during the Hunt. The event’s success is directly attributed to the partners and volunteers who are dedicated to creating such a memorable experience.

The Georgia Chamber and Georgia Allies recognizes and thanks the Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission, Locate South Georgia and members of the Albany Area Steering Committee, each of which played a pivotal role in this year’s event. With the support of our partners and many local volunteers, the Georgia Quail Hunt is certain to continue to attract and grow business in our state.
