LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Albany is to blame for its problems
By Jimmy Hiers
Dear Editor:
Citizens of Albany,
Listen up. You — YOU — are the reason Albany is like it is, falling apart. A once-proud city of the South now is not really a place where people want to come to, to call home.
Not only have major industries moved out, but your bright youths are, or have already, moved out as well. You are destroying yourself. Electing, or otherwise putting in office, incompetent people just because of who they are instead of looking at abilities and qualifications has gotten you in a mess.
Now, you are the only ones that can get yourselves out. You cannot ignore the problem, and expect it to go away by itself. It won’t.
One other thing: A squawker complained about the postal service, about how bad it is. Well, remember this: It is your friends that work at the post office, or you friends’ daughter or son. Maybe your uncle, or brother. What I am saying is, that it is people of Albany that work there. They are an example of the work force in Albany.
No wonder industry is not coming there. No wonder stores are closing. You, the people, are to blame. Quit trying to blame others.
