LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Intelligent conservatives prepare to discontinue support for Trump

Dear Mr. Fletcher:
I really do not mind listening to friends, relatives and clients who favor Donald Trump because they are successful and have accumulated substantial estates. They love Donald Trump because he has never seen a tax cut that he did not love.
What I do mind is listening to people who have never held an economic textbook in their hand and want to tell me that Biden is doing a lousy job with the economy and that Trump would do better.
What these ignorant people seem to expect is that Trump will raise wages, reduce prices, reduce the mortgage interest rate and reduce inflation all at the same time, and without disturbing the stock market that they believe is going to fund their retirements.
It is a waste of time to try to explain that with reduced interest rates and increased wages, people are going to buy more goods and create more demand, which will lead merchants to increase their prices when demand for the goods creates scarcities.
If you want to damn Biden for not doing enough to seal the border, be my guest. I agree with you.
When Magas said nothing after the Senate proposed a good bipartisan plan for changes at the border, (not as good as it could and should be, but a decent start) and they bowed down when Trump commanded them to reject the plan so that he could continue to complain, I realized that the end is near for the Republican party that I supported loyally for many decades. Thoughtful, intelligent conservative voters who are not affluent now appear to be preparing to leave Trump and his Magas and find a new party.
