LINDA SANDERS: Police are heroes who endure a great deal

Cops and law enforcement have always been my heroes, even though I have gotten a lot of speeding tickets (I’m a reformed speeder). The average citizen doesn’t realize the things a cop has to endure. They see things no human should witness — murder victims, abused and molested children and women, the results of drugs and alcohol.

They put their life on the line every time they pull over a car answer a call, and they have to deal with lowlifes on a daily basis.

A lot of cops have lost their lives in the line of duty. Now, cops are losing their lives simply because they are cops. My heart goes out to the families who have lost loved ones and the families who can only hope their lawman comes home safely.

We all know there are bad cops, but they are few and far between. They should be dealt with quickly and pay the consequences.

As for the cop-killers, they are hate terrorists. They should be dealt with quickly and pay the consequences.

Our nation is at war and if it takes military backup to win it, so be it.

I can’t help but think what if Martin Luther King Jr. was alive? What would he be thinking about the killing of my heroes?

Hitler killed thousands of Jews because he was allowed to. White Southerners killed thousands of blacks because they were allowed to. Good men did nothing for too long.

There is good and bad in every occupation, race and nationality. It’s time for good to overrule evil. Look at right and wrong, not the color of your skin. Bring back the under God, justice for all and peace.

I am a 74-year-old white woman, born and raised in the South. Albany was one of the most racist cities in Georgia back in the day. My parents left me nothing in material things, but left me a great legacy. They taught me racism was evil, and not to hate. For future generations, it would be great if they were taught the same. God bless our cops, their families and our nation.
