By Robert J. Kauffman
On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to congratulate Presiding Judge Herbert E. Phipps of the Court of Appeals of Georgia on receiving the Guardian of Justice Award from the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association.
This prestigious award appropriately honors Judge Phipps’ distinguished, 45-year career in the legal profession and justice system, which includes 17 years of service on the Court of Appeals, including two years as chief judge (2013-2015). His judicial service also includes eight years as a part-time Magistrate Court judge and Dougherty County State Court associate judge, seven years as a Dougherty County Juvenile Court judge and four years as a Dougherty Circuit Superior Court judge.
All Georgia lawyers and judges can be proud of this well-deserved recognition earned by Judge Phipps. We add our applause and appreciation for his continued efforts toward fulfilling the constitutional promise of justice for all.
