Albany-area team wins prestigious Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions

SUWANEE, Ga. – Fifty different AAU basketball teams from around the country descended upon the Suwanee Sports Academy this past weekend for the prestigious Bob Gibbons basketball tournament in metro Atlanta and for the first time in tournament history, the Georgia Stars RP (17U) – a team based in Albany, won the tournament.

The team, made up of players from around southwest Georgia and coached by Rabren Pittman, Jr., beat Team New York 63-58 Sunday afternoon for the championship. The team had won two games Saturday, then started the day with a 61-41 win in the semifinals at 8:00 a.m.

The team includes Jaqari Smith, Wayne Castle, Jabrill Lindsey, James Adams, Khyolic Paulk, Jaleen Gibson, Je’sus Daniels, Michael Carter and Bryson Carter.SUWANEE, Ga. — Fifty AAU basketball teams from across the country descended upon the Suwanee Sports Academy this past weekend for the prestigious Bob Gibbons basketball tournament in metro Atlanta. The team, comprised of players from across southwest Georgia and coached by Rabren Pittman, Jr., secured the title by defeating Team New York 63-58 in the championship game Sunday afternoon.

The Georgia Stars RP won two games on Saturday to advance to the semifinals. They started Sunday with an impressive 61-41 victory in the semifinals, tipping off at 8:00 a.m.

The championship roster includes Jaqari Smith, Wayne Castle, Jabrill Lindsey, James Adams, Khyolic Paulk, Jaleen Gibson, Je’sus Daniels, Michael Carter, and Bryson Carter.
