Albany cheerleaders selected for Chick-fil-a Peach Bowl
Two local young ladies are headed to the Chick-fil-a Peach Bowl New Year’s Day after being selected from a nationwide contest.
ALBANY — Two Sherwood Christian Academy seniors will take the field as cheerleaders at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on New Year’s Day in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium after being selected during summer camp tryouts hosted by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Alex Collins and Jordyn Gibson earned their spots after competing with more than 150 other cheerleaders at an FCA camp this past summer at Valdosta State University. The duo from Albany are among just 12 cheerleaders selected nationwide.

“They went through the full tryout—cheer, dance, everything,” said Sherwood Christian Head Cheer Coach Tiffany Carter. “It’s really special to have two of our girls chosen.”
Collins and Gibson will perform during the game featuring Arizona State and the winner of Clemson vs. Texas, a semifinal matchup in the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff.
Local Chick-fil-A leaders expressed excitement about the selection of two Albany students.
“It’s exciting that we have Albany girls included,” said Dustin Walker, Albany Chick-fil-A Talent Director. “We are happy to support local students and be part of this event and our community.”
Alex is the daughter of Kathy Collins, and Jordyn is the daughter of Chinary Jordan.
